"WWE 13" Gets a Release Date, CM Punk Cover, Playable Attitude Era
THQ’s WWE 13 now has a release date, Oct. 30, and the brand has offered up a few bits of info about the forthcoming 2013 edition. Here’s a quick breakdown of WWE 13‘s top features.
WWE Live
Touted as an improvement to the audio and presentation of the series, WWE Live should make the game feel more authentic, with improved crowd noise, commentary and the inclusion of Spectacular Moments. Expect the new edition to build on WWE 12‘s broadcast quality, hopefully approaching the feel of a live event on TV. In their release, THQ also mentioned “ring breaks and barricade crashes”—in case you’re into that kind of thing.
The Attitude Era
This may be your older brother’s WWE. An iconic period in pro wrestling history will finally get a playable campaign mode, which will include the Monday Night Wars of the ’90s. Yes, really. Gamers will be able to play as classic superstars like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Mankind. You can choose among eight Attitude Era wrestlers, and more will be available in other modes.
WWE Universe 3.0
The concept of WWE Universe 3.0 is basically an exhibition mode tied into a career mode. The game keeps track of rivalries and storylines, generating matches that make sense. The 3.0 version could mean more elaborate storylines, but we’ll have to wait and see exactly what will be included in the 2013 game.
WWE 13 will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii on Oct. 30. For more info, visit the THQ website. Check out some screenshots below.
