To celebrate the relaunch of ESPN on Xbox Live, the kind folks at Microsoft gave STACK an Xbox 360 and three Xbox Live gold subscription cards to award to our readers.
To enter our contest, STACKletes had to reveal their favorite college athletic program and tell us how they’re training to achieve their goal of joining it. As Monday Night Football made its welcome return on Sept. 12, we announced that Oscar Rico would be taking home the first place prize.
Citing the University of Alabama as his program of choice, Rico told STACK he trains hard in his school’s weight room. He wrote, “The workouts that really get [my] muscles working and testosterone flowing [are] Bench Presses and Dips.” Whenever he feels so tired that he can’t perform another rep, he looks up at his school logo and thinks to himself, “What would Mark Ingram and Jarrod Daniels say?” (Now with the New Orleans Saints, Ingram won the 2009 Heisman Trophy as a running back for Alabama; and Daniels is a former running back at Rico’s high school.)
Rico won us over with his discussion of the importance of academics to achieving his goal of suiting up for the Crimson Tide. “I know I can reach my potential and attend the school by keeping up with academics and being a beast in the weight room,” he wrote.
Congratulations to Oscar Rico, winner of an Xbox 360 console and a 12-month gold subscription card. Good luck on your quest to make it to the next level!
