Young Thug Will Call His Next Mixtape ‘Carter V’ (Maybe)
Young Thug refuses to leave Lil Wayne alone. Once counted as a member of the veteran rapper’s rabid fan base, he arguably was obsessed. But now, it seems he’ll do anything to get a reaction from Weezy.
During a recent interview with No Days Off Radio, Thug announced plans to release a mixtape called Tha Carter V ahead of his long-awaited debut album. It’s unclear whether it will be a tribute to the rap legend or a taunt about Wayne’s current legal troubles with Cash Money and production problems getting his own Carter V released. However, we can safely say that the Young Money leader will not take the news as a compliment. Check out the full interview below.
“I’ma drop one more mixtape [before my debut]. I’ll probably name it Tha Carter V, ’cause the original Carteer V still ain’t come out yet. I don’t know what [they’re] doing. So, I’ma put [it] out for ’em,” said Thug.
The Atlanta native also distanced himself from some of the labels and companies he was associated with in the past, including Birdman, with whom he tours as Rich Gang. “I manage myself. I’m signed to Atlantic. I have a big, special deal with Atlantic, and it’s only Atlantic. Birdman is my homie,” Thug explained.
Last time Thugga attempted to usurp the Carter series, Weezy threatened him with legal action; hence, the Barter 6. Maybe the performer has found a loophole. Or maybe he just no longer cares.
Wayne hasn’t yet responded. However, he is prepping a mixtape of his own, and he is expected to release the Free Weezy Album in the coming weeks.
