New Trailer for ‘The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds’ Features Gameplay
Nintendo released a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, showing off new gameplay footage for the upcoming 3DS title. The most notable of the new mechanics is Link’s ability to turn into a 2D wall-painting, allowing him to cross chasms and sneak past enemies.
The game features a top-down perspective—the angle of choice in 2-D Legend of Zelda games— and Link is able to travel across different levels of the environment.
A Link Between Worlds takes place in the same environment as the Super Nintendo classic, A Link to the Past, and it shows in many of the game’s worlds and weapons. For example, fire and ice staffs and the magic hammer are back. But these and other classic elements are updated with new moves and uses. Link can also upgrade weapons with the help of a pink octopus.
In the game, Link travels between Hyrule and Lorule, a dark alternate version of the kingdom that needs a hero. Appropriately, the “two worlds” gameplay seen in many Legend of Zelda games originated in A Link to the Past.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will be released Nov. 22 for the 3DS and 2DS. A limited edition bundle is also available, featuring a gold and black 3DS XL emblazoned with a Triforce symbol and a download code for the full game.
