WATCH: Celebrity ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Don’t Know Who Cam Newton Is
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is everywhere. He’s on TV, doing the “dab” when he scores a touchdown, he’s on magazine covers, in newspapers, all over the internet. Despite losing to the Denver Broncos in his first Super Bowl appearance, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner is a sports star on the rise.
Despite Newton’s growing celebrity, the former Auburn University QB is still not known by everyone, not even by prominent news journalists.
During Tuesday night’s special episode of Jeopardy! called “Power Players,” CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Lara Logan of 60 Minutes, and MSNBC’s Michael Steele did not know the Panthers’ superstar quarterback when the question came up.

These journalists primarily cover politics, and Logan admitted they are not very knowledgeable about sports. They each jokingly said they knew who Cam was after host Alex Trebek revealed the answer.
Maybe Newton will need to hit the “dab” with more emphasis this upcoming season to earn more mainstream recognition.
