Seth MacFarlane’s ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’ Arrives on May 30
Seth MacFarlane is following up his surprise 2012 hit Ted with the comedy western, A Million Ways to Die in the West. MacFarlane, who wrote, directed and stars in the film, plays a sheep farmer named Albert, whose troubles begin when his girlfriend (Amanda Seyfried) leaves him because he’s too cowardly to follow through with a gunfight. And when Albert starts falling in love with a new woman in town (Charlize Theron), her outlaw husband (Liam Neeson) arrives seeking revenge.
In addition to its big name headliners, the movie features an impressive supporting cast, including Giovanni Ribisi (Dads), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Sarah Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program, Bob’s Burgers).
Collaborating on the screenplay were Dads creators Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, both of whom previously teamed up with MacFarlane on the screenplay for Ted. The film features some surprise musical numbers and (as those familiar with MacFarlane’s humor would expect) plenty of raunchy jokes.
A Million Ways to Die in the West is scheduled for release on May 30. Watch the trailer at the bottom of this article.
MacFarlane has also penned a companion novel based on the script, which is available now.
