Former Disney star David Henrie, best known for his role on Wizards of Waverly Place, is about to take on the role of young Ronald Reagan in an upcoming biopic about the former President. Reagan will be told from the unique perspective of a KGB officer who began to keep tabs on the anti-communist Reagan during his years as a popular actor and SAG president.
Henrie recently characterized the movie to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “It’s a universal film with universal values and principles.”
The film is based on two biographies, God and Ronald Reagan: A Spiritual Life and The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism, by Paul Kengor. The screenplay was written by Howard Klausner, best known for Space Cowboys, and Jonas McCord (Malice).
David Henrie’s movie career is definitely on the rise. He has a number of other films in the works, several of which are premiering this year, including Walt Before Mickey and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2.
