Costa will release his self-titled project this week. The California native ditched his hometown for the recording of the project, opting to record in Glasgow, Scottland with producer Tony Doogan. And his migration is evident on this album. Gone are his trademark easy-going beach-ready songs. In their place, is a fuller orchestral-pop sound. Costa’s experiments bring mixed success, but there are no outright failures on the album. Be sure to give “Good Times” a spin or two. It’s currently available as a free download on Spinner.

The Stone Foxes, Small Fires

It’s hard to talk about the Stone Foxes without sounding completely biased. The San Franciso-based band released its third record this week, and like their previous projects, it’s a treat. The band’s particular brand of rock is made to be heard live, but the foursome has found a way to translate their stage energy and raw talent to a studio album, so that you can take the music with you. Check out the album’s lead single, “Everybody Knows” or “Psycho” for a taste.

The Wonder Years, Sleeping On Trash

Sleeping On Trash is a compilation of The Wonder Years’ previous work to catch new some fans before their new album comes out later this year. Covering their material from 2005 to 2010, the project gives new and old fans a chance to pick up music from the pop-punk collective. Favorites such as “Won’t Be Pathetic Forever” are included on the set. If you want to give it a listen before you buy, it is available on YouTube.
