Megan Fox Linking Up With Michael Bay for ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Reboot
Just when it seemed like Megan Fox’s days of appearing in Michael Bay productions had reached an end, the filmmaker announced on his official blog that the beauty has been cast to appear in his live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.
“TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!” wrote the producer on MichaelBay.com.
Fox appeared in Bay’s uber-successful movie Transformers (2007) and its 2009 sequel. But their partnership seemed to take a turn for the worse following Fox’s infamous 2009 interview with Wonderland magazine, in which she compared the director to Hitler, called him “a nightmare to work for” and claiming that he has “no social skills at all.”
According to Bay, however, the two have buried the hatchet. He told GQ in the summer of 2011 that the two linked up again after Fox sent him a text message. “When you’re days and months on a set, it’s like family,” he told the magazine. “You say rude things, and you make up.”
It is unclear whom Fox will be portraying in the TMNT re-make; however according to THR, she is expected to take on the role of April O’Neil, a reporter and friend to the Turtles first portrayed by Judith Hoag in the 1990 TMNT film and by Paige Turco and Sarah Michelle Gellar in later versions.
Johnathan Liebesman, known for his work on 2011’s Battle: Los Angeles and 2012’s Wrath of the Titans, will direct the reboot, which is tentatively titled, Ninja Turtles. It is set for a spring/summer 2014 release.
