Allen Iverson is Training With His High School Coach to Prepare For His BIG3 Debut
With BIG3 league play set to kick off later this month at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, one of the biggest names in the sport is working tirelessly to get himself into basketball shape as he prepares to make his debut.
42-year-old Allen Iverson is the captain and player/coach for 3’s Company, a team comprised of AI, DeMarr Johnson, Andre Owens, Mike Sweetney and Ruben Patterson. Though the games are relegated to halfcourt (and even feature a 4-point line), Iverson’s seems to be taking no chances when it comes to his conditioning, and has linked up with his former high school coach, Mike Bailey in preparation.

Though Iverson is noticeably a bit, shall we say, rounder since his days as a Philadelphia 76er, it doesn’t appear as if he’s lost any of his handles, or touch on his shot.

“I feel like as long as I get my legs stronger and get my wind back, I’ll be fine,” Iverson says in the video. “It’s fun, just getting back in the gym. Starting all over, basically. I’m just trying to condition my body to be able to play. At times, I feel like a high school kid again. But it’s like riding a bike for me, as far as the game.”
Iverson’s 3’s Company will take on the Ball Hogs on June 25.
