Coca-Cola Stock Plummets After Cristiano Ronaldo Snub
At a Euro 2020 press conference on Monday, Juventus and Portugal national team star Cristiano Ronaldo moved aside two bottles of Coca-Cola on the table in front of him in favor of a bottle of water.
Ronaldo appeared unnerved by the presence of soda; Coca-Cola is one of the official sponsors of the tournament.

Following the conclusion of Ronaldo’s media availability, the market value of Coca-Cola dipped considerably by $4 billion, according to USA Today.
“Agua!” the 36-year-old athlete said. Agua in Portuguese means water. Kudos to him for promoting a healthier lifestyle.
And don’t call Ronaldo a pariah for his actions; Manchester United and Frenchman Paul Pogba removed the Heineken in front of him:

Pogba, a devout Muslim, does not drink alcohol.
The organizers of Euro 2020 do not seem to be at odds with the players’ actions.
A spokesperson on behalf of the tournament said via CBS News that “players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences,” while all involved are “entitled to their drink preferences.”
Players and coaches of other teams at Euro 2020 are taking playful jabs at Ronaldo. Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli pushed aside the Coca-Cola before his Wednesday post-game presser:
Locatelli following Ronaldo’s footsteps. Coca Cola gonna be a meme at this point 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/gK5wCKGM1v

“Acqua,” Locatelli said laughingly, which means water in Italian.
A day prior to Locatelli’s antics, a journalist asked Russian coach Stanislav Cherchesov his opinion of Ronaldo’s actions and Cherchesov responded in kind:
A journalist asked Russia’s manager Stanislav Cherchesov what did he think about Cristiano Ronaldo removing the Coca Cola bottle from the table...
