Drake’s ‘Nothing Was the Same’ Pushed Back; Cover Revealed
We’ll have to wait a little longer to get our hands on Drake’s upcoming third solo studio album, Nothing Was the Same. The project was initially slated to hit shelves on Sept. 17, but according to new reports, it will actually land one week later on Sept. 24.
Drake has released several tracks to hype the release, but the only songs confirmed to appear on the album thus far are “Started From the Bottom” and the recently dropped “Hold On, We’re Going Home.”
L.A. artist Kadir Nelson collaborated with the rapper/singer on the cover for Nothing Was the Same. According to Nelson, the Canadian star contacted him after seeing his work and requested some original material that strayed from the typical album cover for a hip-hop artist. The two frames, which depict Drake at different points in his life against a blue sky backdrop, seem to represent the rapper’s progression. Do you like it?
“He wanted something that was a little bit more artsy and had more weight to it, so I did a number of sketches, and when we picked out what he liked, I sculpted it together,” Nelson said to MTV. “Art is always open for interpretation, but he wanted something that represented his heart both as a kid and as an adult.”
