Take a trip down memory lane with some of the top lacrosse players in the world as part of Maverik Lacrosse’s latest video series, Roots.
The series debut episode, “Laker Pride,” features New Jersey lacrosse legend Joe Cinosky returning to his alma mater, Mountain Lakes High School, and sharing both defining moments of his high school career and traditions of the Mountain Lakes lacrosse team, including the game day custom of walking down “The Path” past the John Walters Rock, named for the legendary coach who brought lacrosse to Mountain Lakes.
Says Cinosky: “Everyone would walk up to the rock, give it two touches with their stick and get back in line. No matter who you were, everyone got the double-touch. That’s when everyone turned it on.”
“Laker Pride” is the latest in a line of creative productions put forth by the Maverik Lacrosse team. It’s inspirational to learn about Cinosky’s humble beginnings. He’s a two-time Major League Lacrosse champion and member of the 2010 USA World Championship team. It’s amazing to think about how far he’s come since his prep years in New Jersey.
