Harness the Power of Playing AAU Basketball
Serious high school hoopsters know how important it is to play AAU ball. Players can capitalize on the increased attention from college coaches, and competing in AAU can open doors to Division I college basketball programs.
Syracuse head men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim says, “AAU provides kids from small towns or big cities who were overlooked on their teams with opportunities to get into an exposure situation.”
Playing in AAU games can be the best way to prove that you can handle increased levels of competition. Be prepared: some tournaments schedule as many as four games per day.
College staffers will attend, so fill up the stat sheet. But make sure to do the little things, too: play tough defense, move the ball and hustle. That’ll really impress the scouts.
