Joel Embiid Says He’s the Best Soccer Player in the NBA
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid traveled overseas to watch the Champions League final on Saturday. He took part in some of the action on Friday for the Ultimate Champions match. The game also included New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Rockets center Clint Capela. Surprisingly, the 23-year-old Embiid displayed some serious soccer skills.

In the video and interview below, Embiid juggles soccer balls with Capela and looks like a pro. After, he talks about how he has played the sport his whole life and thinks he would be the best soccer player to come out of the NBA.

The 7-foot center is so big, he makes the soccer balls look tiny, and he fills up the entire goal. He didn’t actually play because of the fear of injury, but he did get scored on while standing in goal. If he did play for real, he might make a good goalkeeper just because of his size.

Soccer requires agile footwork skills, and Embiid has definitely transferred that footwork to basketball. While he only played 31 games this season, the Cameroon native showed his outstanding footwork down low while averaging 20 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game.
