Watch the New Gameplay Trailer for ‘Mortal Kombat X’
A new trailer for Mortal Kombat X has surfaced. In the video below, two new fighters are revealed, and a battle between two returning characters, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, plays out in a snow-covered forest.
Since the game is still a work in progress, much could change from what was presented during Sony’s E3 press conference earlier this week. But thus far, there are at least four new playable characters: Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade; Kotal Kahn, a descendant of Shao Kahn; the double-teaming Ferra and Torr; and D’vorah, an insect-like female with power over bugs.
Expected to run at native 1080p/60 fps, the game is set 25 years after the events of MK9 and features a number of changes. For one, after choosing a character, gamers also pick one of three fighting styles unique to that character. Different abilities come with each fighting style. There will also be subtle changes to the character’s appearance based on the selected style.
The big bad for the game hasn’t been revealed, but creator Ed Boon promised during Sony’s live stream that the unveiling would shock a lot of people, saying, “it’s going to be a surprise returning character. Not a lot of people will see it coming.”
A release date hasn’t been announced for Mortal Kombat X, but WBIE is expected to launch it in the latter half of 2015 for PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
