Keanu Reeves Joins the Cast of Horror Flick ‘The Neon Demon’
Keanu Reeves and Christina Hendricks have joined the ensemble cast of The Neon Demon, a horror flick directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. Reeves and Hendricks join Elle Fanning (Maleficent) and Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) in this thriller centering on a group of young women, including an aspiring model faced with a predicament that threatens her survival.
When the picture was first announced, Refn said about the female-led cast: “One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon. This movie is a manifestation of the strong ties between us and will lead to many more adventures.”
The popular Danish director also co-wrote the screenplay with newcomer Mary Laws. Oscar-nominated French cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd, whose most recent work includes The Grandmaster, is on board to shoot the movie.
Other new additions to the cast include Jena Malone (The Hunger Games) and Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows).
The Neon Demon is expected to begin filming in March and will hit theaters in 2016.
