November is Native American Heritage Month, and Nike has produced some fresh new looks to honor the occasion.
Basketball teams from nine different colleges will be wearing Nike’s N7 uniforms in upcoming games. N7 is Nike’s long-time project that aims to inspire and enable Native American and Aboriginal youth in North America to participate in sports and get active. The N7 uniforms all prominently feature turquoise, a color that represents harmony, fellowship and friendship in Native American culture.

The participating schools all perform some sort of outreach to connect with local native communities. From Nike’s press release:
While all partner programs support Native American Heritage Month on the hardwood, each school also initiates its own outreach to local Native communities. This includes basketball camps at Gonzaga, Marquette and Nevada; a Native youth spring field day at Oklahoma State; and Seminole Tribe of Florida youth programs with Florida State.
San Diego State works with N7 Fund grantee Inter Tribal Sports to highlight its Native youth sports program, hosting a basketball camp in the spring. In addition, the New Mexico men’s and women’s teams auction their uniforms and donate the proceeds to local Native American youth organizations.
