Gaming Update: ‘PayDay 2,’ ‘Warhammer: End Times–Vermintide,’ PS Now, ‘COD: Advanced Warfare’
Overkill Announces New PayDay 2 DLC & Next Community Event
Overkill will release the 17th DLC for PayDay 2, “The Overkill Pack,” on March 21. The content unlocks three minigun mods, a new minigun, a rocket launcher, an escape van skin, a mask and 10 new achievements. It will cost $5. Pre-ordering it before March 12 will net players three gallons of “Hype Fuel,” which can be used in the game’s goal-based community event, “The Hype Train.”
Each contribution of fuel helps the community move closer to various destinations, or goals, which unlock free content like heists and character packs. The train’s final stop, at PayDayCon in L.A., will be reached after 2 million gallons have been contributed. The Hype Train ends on March 12, just ahead of the Spring Break event, which runs from March 13 to 21.
Warhammer: End Times–Vermintide Arriving Later This Year
Fatshark Studios has announced plans to release a new Warhammer game. End Time—Vermintide is a co-op FPS game set in Ubersreik. Players will choose from five heroes—each with his or her own gear, personality and fighting style—and join three other gamers to survive against the Skaven, a race of human/rat hybrids. Check out the trailer below.
CEO Martin Wahlund promised that the title will keep ties to the Warhammer universe. He said, “Vermintide will provide the player with a completely new perspective of the Warhammer fantasy universe, through the eyes of the heroes they play. Staying true to the fantasy lore, with familiar foes and locations, we look forward to winning the hearts of enthusiasts and newcomers with this new take on the Warhammer story.”
Warhammer: End Time—Vermintide will arrive later this year for XBO, PS4 and PC.
PS Now Adds 5 More Games, Including Uncharted 2
Sony’s subscription program, PlayStation Now, is bulking up. This month, five games were added—God of War II HD, Red Faction: Armageddon, Galaga Legions DX, Arcana Heart 3 and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
PS Now comes with two subscription options—a monthly plan for $20 and a 3-month plan for $45. It’s currently only available via the PS4, and only features games from the PS3, but the company plans to expand both the game library and availability. “There are some amazing games for PS1 and PS2, and our longer term vision is to go back further into the PlayStation generational library and offer those with PlayStation Now,” said PS Now exec Peter Jamshidi. “Right now, however, we are focused on bringing to users experiences from the amazing PS3 library.”
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC ”Havoc” Arriving Later This Month for PC & PS
On Feb. 26, nearly one month after Xbox gamers, PC and PlayStation players will finally get their hands on Advance Warfare‘s “Havoc” DLC. The add-on includes new weapons, four new multiplayer maps (Core, Urban, Sideshow and Drift), and a new mode called “Exo Zombies,” in which gamers fight a superpowered undead legion and take on the role of one of four Atlas employees—who happen to be actors Bill Paxton, John Malkovich, Rose McGowan and Joe Bernthal.
“Havoc” is included in the $50 Advance Warfare Season Pass. Or you can purchase it individually for $15. Peep the trailer below.
