Watch the Latest ‘Saints Row IV’ Trailer
Saints Row IV doesn’t come out until Aug. 20, but the game already has a full-length trailer. Check out the new footage above.
The follow-up to Saints Row: The Third, which came out in November 2011, was the first version released by its new publisher, Volition. Previous titles in the series were published by THQ, which declared bankruptcy earlier this year.
This latest installment takes place in Washington, D.C., and in futuristic Steelport. Since the conclusion of the last game, the head of the Saints has been elected President of the United States, and aliens have begun taking over the nation. From the trailer footage, it seems that gamers will be equipped with superhuman powers to combat the aliens. According to Deep Silver, the gamer’s goal is to “escape the simulation that’s trapped the Saints crew or die trying.”
The August release date means that Saints Row IV will arrive ahead of its main competitor, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5. Saints Row IV will be compatible with Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC, but not Wii U.
In other news, Deep Silver has published a survey seeking input from fans on what to include in the forthcoming collector’s edition of Saints Row IV. Gamers are asked to rate their interest in items like a “Department of Homeland Saintcurity” shirt, an auto tune device, and a “Dubstep Doomsday Button,” among other things.
