Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Team Up to Adapt ‘Sleeper’
Long-time friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will join forces once again to produce Warner Bros.’ upcoming adaptation of Sleeper, reports Variety.
Sleeper is a comic book series written by Ed Brubaker and published by DC Comics from 2003 to 2005. It revolves around Holden Carver, a man impervious to pain, which he can transfer to others. In an alternate reality where superhuman capabilities are commonplace, Carver goes undercover in a criminal organization for an intelligence agency. But his loyalty is tested after he falls for Miss Misery, a member of the organization whose livelihood literally depends on committing evil acts. Kindness causes her to become sick and weak.
Shawn Ryan, the brain behind The Shield, and David Wiener (The Killing) are writing the script for the movie, which was originally slated to include Sam Raimi and Tom Cruise. No actors are attached to the project yet, and a release date has not been announced. But the players working behind the scenes are impressive.
Affleck is currently involved in another WB property, the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie, and he will soon begin work on his adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s crime novel, Live by Night, slated for release in 2015. Damon is also busy. He will appear in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, and he co-stars in the recently delayed The Monuments Men alongside George Clooney and Bill Murray. It will be released Feb. 7, 2014.
