Few people can afford to travel to the peaks of the Alps, or even to the Rockies. Fortunately, EA Sports has a way for gamers to snowboard across some of the most monumental mountains in the world, including Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Himalayas. For their SSX Massive World game, the company used NASA's topographical technology to recreate mountain ranges of astounding realism.
In the three-part video series above, EA's creative director Todd Batty and art director Geoff Coates explain the technology behind SSX, which lets gamers perform adrenaline-fueled tricks in nine of the most harrowing landscapes on the planet.
You'll soon be able to glide across these forbidding but beautiful landscapes on your virtual board. Stay tuned for exclusive video content from EA Sports' Winter Preview event in San Francisco, featuring interviews with the folks behind SSX, FIFA Street and the reimagined classic, NFL Blitz.
