Mack Maine: Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter V’ Coming Soon
The saga continues about Lil Wayne’s last album before his rumored retirement. However, in a recent interview with Miami’s 99 Jamz, Young Money president Mack Maine hinted that the battle could soon be coming to an end.
“He’s touching up the album and about to start another special project for the people,” said Maine. “I can’t give a definitive date [for Tha Carter V Part 1]. I can just say first quarter, for sure. . . It’s coming out. Don’t get it twisted like it’s not coming out.”
Wayne’s frustration over the project’s release date seems to have prompted a division between him and his long-time recording home, Cash Money Records. Things erupted when he took to Twitter to blast Birdman, accusing the exec of refusing to release the project. But Maine says those issues will soon be resolved. “I pray that everything works itself out,” he said. “I got an optimistic, positive vibe about everything. It’s just some business that’s gon’ need to be handled. Once that’s handled we’re going to keep moving. And it’s getting handled as we speak.”
According to reports, the special project Maine referred to could come in the form of Sorry 4 the Wait 2, a mixtape follow-up to the 2011 freebie, Sorry 4 the Wait, which Weezy offered to fans as an apology for Tha Carter IV‘s repeated delays. It would definitely be fitting. Adding fuel to the rumors, Young Money affiliate Fee Banks and Mack Maine himself both posted pictures on Instagram that mention Sorry 4 the Wait 2 in their captions.
