Rosamund Pike, Joel Kinnaman to Star in Diving Adventure ‘The Bends’
In the wake of her breakout success in the hit mystery thriller Gone Girl, Rosamund Pike has several exciting projects in the works, including the big screen diving adventure, The Bends. Joel Kinnaman of TV’s The Killing stars alongside Pike in this film about a former combat marine working to pay off a debt he owes to the Mafia. The story centers on a mysterious discovery uncovered at the bottom of the sea.
In addition to his role as Stephen Holder on the popular AMC crime series, Kinnaman is making a name for himself on the big screen with films like 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and more recently the remake of RoboCop. The Swedish actor will next be seen in Liam Neeson’s Run All Night. Pike is about to appear in another big screen thriller, Return to Sender, premiering some time this year.
Directing The Bends is Jean Luc Herbulot, best known for the action-drama Dealer. The screenplay was written by Oliver Leo, who is making his feature film debut.
This provocative movie, which will be shown at the Berlin Film Festival in February, is generating significant buzz already, largely due to the fact that two such highly in-demand actors signed on. The Hollywood Reporter predicted, “It’s sure to spark keen interest, thanks to its commercial potential as well as Pike’s Oscar and BAFTA nominations for Gone Girl, the David Fincher thriller that stunned at the global box office, earning nearly $370 million to date.”
