The Supplement That Helped Ian Thomas Blow Up the NFL Combine

The explosive Carolina Panthers tight end may prove himself to be one of the most underrated players taken in the 2018 NFL Draft.

When Ian Thomas arrived at TEST Football Academy to prepare his body for the 2018 NFL Combine, he was already a good athlete.

At the time, Thomas, now a tight end with the Carolina Panthers, was coming off a senior season at Indiana that saw him snag five touchdowns and earn All-Big Ten honorable mention recognition.

But the margin between good and great athleticism is often the difference between drafted and undrafted. To help him gain an edge, Thomas began supplementing with CarnoSyn® during his pre-draft training.

CarnoSyn® delivers a high-quality form of beta-alanine, a naturally occurring beta amino acid that's essential for the synthesis of muscle carnosine. The more efficiently you synthesize muscle carnosine, the longer your body can delay the onset of muscle fatigue and muscle failure.

"I began supplementing with CarnoSyn® during my NFL Combine prep process and couldn't believe the impact it made on my workouts and recovery," Thomas says. "Over the course of just a few weeks, I saw myself grow as a player in reps against my training teammates. CarnoSyn® helped me add reps to my workouts and recover faster than I thought possible. At this level, it's a game of inches."

In addition to notable improvements in strength, endurance and explosiveness, CarnoSyn® helped Thomas shed six pounds of fat while packing on additional muscle mass. All of these elements came together to power Thomas to a dynamite performance at the 2018 NFL Combine.

His monster 10-foot-3 broad jump ranked second among all tight ends, while his 36-inch vertical jump ranked third. His 4.74 40-Yard Dash made him one of just seven players in attendance to run faster than a 4.75 while weighing at least 259 pounds. Top it all off with a 4.20 20-Yard Shuttle—a time .04 seconds faster than that of Saquon Barkley—and Thomas' status as a freak athlete was firmly solidified by the time he left Indianapolis.

Thomas' impressive Combine helped convince the Panthers he was well worth the 101st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. "We think (Ian) can be a complete tight end…he's got all the tools," Carolina GM Marty Hurney told reporters after the selection.

Thomas had a strong rookie campaign that culminated in a dominant December. After Greg Olsen suffered a season-ending injury, Thomas totaled 25 receptions, 246 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the team's final five games. With another offseason of improvement already in the works, Thomas could be in for big things in year two.
