But there was nothing “vanilla” about the International Powerlifting Federation world record-breaking 1,102-pound Back Squat he performed at the 2016 Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

Norwegian powerlifter Carl Yngvar Christensen set the previous IPF world record in 2014, squatting 1,08o pounds at the IPF World Open Powerlifting Championships in Aurora, Colorado.
After setting the new world record, Sumner said the lift almost killed him nearly four times, according to Juggernaut Training Systems.
Besides breaking the world record for squatting, Sumner also benched 885 pounds and deadlifted 815 pounds, combining for a total of 2,802 pounds for the day.
