When it comes to height, almost everyone wants to be taller. But that’s not the case for Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, who is listed at 6-foot-9.

Durant shared his true height—6-foot-11—during an interview with the Wall Street Journal. But why would the seven-time All-Star want to lie about his height?
“But really, I’ve always thought it was cool to say I’m a 6-9 small forward,” KD said. “Really, that’s the prototypical size for a small forward. Anything taller than that, and they’ll start saying, ‘Ah, he’s a power forward.’”
Even at 6-foot-9, Durant would be taller than most NBA small forwards. According to nyloncalculus.com, the average height of a small forward is a shade under 6-foot-8. So even without his fake measurement, Durant would still be taller than most of his opponents.
We’re not sure why KD doesn’t want to be viewed as a power forward. Maybe it’s because in a league where height matters, it’s more impressive when undersized guys do amazing things.
No matter what position he plays, Durant is still one of the most dominant players in the NBA today.
