Aaron Rodgers Removed Dairy From His Diet Because it Made Him Poop Too Much
When you’re living and playing football in Wisconsin, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers has done for his entire 12-year NFL career, it can be almost impossible to avoid dairy products. According to the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (which is a real thing), the state currently boasts 9,520 dairy farms and produces 3.5 billion gallons of milk per year. Wisconsin also produces 3.1 billion pounds of cheese per year, which is 26.2 percent of the entire United States cheese production. So, yeah, good luck avoiding dairy.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, his place of residence doesn’t jive too well with his diet. Rodgers eliminated dairy from his diet in 2016, and today we know the reason why. It isn’t because he once ate 10 pounds of cheddar cheese in one sitting and now can’t look at any dairy product without getting nauseous; and it isn’t because he has grown to despise the cheeseheads Packers fans wear wherever they go. No, it’s because consuming dairy throws his stomach all out of whack.
“I wanted to really ingrain myself in the culture and the people,” Rodgers told ESPN. “And I apologize about having an allergy to dairy products that gives me some irritable bowels. But other than that, I mean, I’ve embraced just about everything else Wisconsin—especially when it comes to sports, but also the people and the interactions with our fans.”
Rodgers is arguably a top-three quarterback in the NFL. Without dairy ruining his insides, perhaps he elevates to No. 1 this season.
