adidas Launches miCoach Speed_Cell Technology (Featuring Video)
“Understanding individual performance data is one of the best ways to improve your game,” says Mark Verstegen, founder and president of Athletes’ Performance.
Only most high school athletes lack access to the cutting-edge technology and world-class instruction available at Athletes’ Performance and other leading training facilities around the country.
Until now. Step your game up this holiday season with miCoach Speed_Cell, the latest innovation in digital sports technology from adidas.
The miCoach Speed_Cell is an advanced accelerometer, which captures 360-degree movement and measures performance metrics during training, practice and competition—providing accurate data you can use to track your progress, pinpoint your weaknesses and enhance your overall training experience.
About the size of a USB drive, the miCoach Speed_Cell functions inside a specially-designed cavity in the outsole of miCoach Speed_Cell-compatible adidas shoes.
Performance metrics captured by the device include:
- Time (per session and cumulative)
- Distance (per session and cumulative)
- Speed (maximum speed per session)
- Speed zones (distance covered in each zone, high intensity)
- Number of sprints
The miCoach Speed_Cell’s on-board memory stores your performance data for up to seven hours following activity and wirelessly sends it to your smartphone, tablet, Mac or PC. Once uploaded, the data is displayed in colorful charts and graphs, allowing you to compare your most recent stats to past results. The charts highlight your strengths and weaknesses clearly, so your training can be even more focused for improvement.
You can also share your stats on Facebook and compare them with your friends, fellow athletes around the country and even some professional athletes, such as soccer star Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona.
adidas plans to release a full range of miCoach-compatible footwear, starting with the adiZero F50 soccer cleat, which is already available. adiZero shoes for basketball, football and tennis will launch later this year and throughout 2012.
The miCoach Speed_Cell is available for $69.99 at adidas Sport Performance stores, sporting goods stores, soccer and running specialty stores and at shopadidas.com.
View exclusive STACK video (above) of the miCoach Speed_Cell launch event in New York City, featuring adidas senior innovation director Christian DiBenedetto along with New York Giants LB Greg Jones and Chivas USA F Juan Pablo Angel.
miCoach Speed_Cell technology captures performance data and wirelessly sends it to your phone or computer.
