Watch the Trailer for Psychological Thriller ‘After the Dark’
After the Dark is an imaginative psychological thriller involving 20 graduating seniors at an international school in Jakarta and their mysterious philosophy professor, who challenges them to take part in an exciting experiment.
The students are given a theoretical scenario in which nuclear war is approaching and challenged to use logic to decide which 10 of them will stay in an underground bunker and reboot the human race. The imaginary world of impending apocalypse becomes more real, and the students find it difficult to tell fantasy from reality. The worst aspects of human nature are magnified as the students scheme against each other to survive by any means necessary.
The charismatic James D’Arcy, known for his roles in dramatic, unconventional films like Cloud Atlas and Hitchcock, stars as the philosophy professor. The young ensemble cast features Bonnie Wright and Freddie Stroma (Ginny Weasley and Cormac McLaggen in the Harry Potter films); Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids); Rhys Wakefield (The Purge); and TV’s Katie Findlay (The Carrie Diaries).
The movie was written and directed by John Huddles, best known for writing and directing the dramas Far Harbor and At Sachem Farm.
After the Dark heads to theaters in limited release Feb. 7 and premieres nationwide April 15, 2014.
