Andrew Garfield and Dakota Johnson are teaming up for the film Under The Silver Lake. Set in Los Angeles, the film is described as a modern noir crime thriller.
The movie is being written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, who recently had a big break with the indie horror flick It Follows.
Michael De Luca, who worked with Johnson on Fifty Shades of Grey, is producing under his Michael De Luca Productions banner. Chris Bender (The Hangover), Jake Weiner (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) and Adele Romanski (Black Rock) are also producing.
Johnson, who recently wrapped her performance in the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel Fifty Shades Darker, is now filming the third installment of the franchise, titled Fifty Shades Freed. Besides all the edgy thrillers she has been working on lately, she is also branching out into other genres, like the emotionally compelling music drama The Sound of Metal, out next year.
Garfield will next be seen in Mel Gibson’s World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge, in theaters Nov. 4. The actor is currently filming the big screen drama Breathe, debuting in 2017.
Garfield may also reenter the superhero world. Although his Spider-Man movies were not commercial hits and he was replaced by Tom Holland, many fans were disappointed when Garfield’s storyline ended. According to International Business Times, “recent speculations have stated that Garfield might be considered for a role in Sony’s proposed Venom movie.” Considering MCU has been experimenting with its characters from different universes, it’s possible that Garfield’s fans might see him in a movie in another franchise.
