Bill Murray Stars in Comedy ‘Rock the Kasbah’
Bill Murray leads a star-studded ensemble cast in Rock the Kasbah, about a washed-up rock music manager named Richie Vance, who gets another shot at success while on a USO tour in Afghanistan with his last remaining client.
After Richie (Murray) is abandoned in Kabul without money or passport, he discovers a young girl with an amazing voice. His luck seems to be changing as he manages her appearance on the popular TV show Afghan Star, the country’s version of American Idol. Things get complicated when a disgruntled ex-boyfriend decides to oppose the singer with talent of his own.
The cast also features Bruce Willis, Zooey Deschanel (New Girl), Kate Hudson (Bride Wars), Taylor Kinney (Zero Dark Thirty), Danny McBride (The Is the End), and Scott Caan of TV’s Hawaii Five-0.
The screenplay was written by Mitch Glazer, best known recently for writing and producing the crime series Magic City. Glazer is also one of the film’s producers. Directing the picture is prominent veteran filmmaker Barry Levinson, whose latest high-profile projects include the acclaimed HBO movie You Don’t Know Jack.
Rock the Kasbah will hit theaters nationwide on April 24, 2015.
