‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ to Feature Several Avengers
The forthcoming Captain America sequel will feature its share of Avengers. The movie’s creators have even hinted that fans might get their first glimpse of Ultron, the super villain of Avengers 2.
Winter Soldier co-director Joe Russo recently spoke with the Huffington Post about the film, revealing that the plot will serve as a bridge between the original Avengers and Age of Ultron.
“There’s a very strong connection in the narrative between the events of the end of Marvel’s The Avengers that drive [Winter Solider], and there’s a very strong handoff to the [Age of Ultron] at the end of this movie,” Russo said. “And Kevin Feige’s whole thing is that this is the biggest bridge of all of Phase 2 movies; it really is. It does involve the most amount of Avengers of any of the films in Phase 2, and it has sort of a, you know, there’s a very big shift in the universe at the end of this movie.”
Thus far, Nick Fury, Falcon and Black Widow are confirmed to be appearing in the movie. Black Widow seems to have an especially big role. “Cap and Natasha [Black Widow] develop something of an intimate relationship in this movie,” said Scarlett Johansson during Comic-Con. “They both fight on the ground, because they can’t fly. They have a similar fighting style. They both have their guard up, they both have trust issues. And they’ve both been working for ‘The Man’ for so long. It’s a complex relationship.”
It’s a relationship that is bound to get more complicated. Chris Evans, who portrays Captain America, pointed out that his character has a firm moral center, while Natasha’s values vary depending on the circumstances.
Captain America: The Winter Solider will hit theaters April 4, 2014.
