Competing Bermuda Triangle Films in the Works
The infamous Bermuda Triangle is a hot movie topic. Two films currently in the works will explore this area between the Florida Straits, Bermuda and Puerto Rico, in which numerous planes and ships have mysteriously disappeared over the years. These baffling occurrences have led to speculation about everything from reverse gravity fields to time warps, extraterrestrials and other paranormal causes.
One of the movies, in development at Skydance Productions, is being written by Sorcerers’ Apprentice writers Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard. They are rewriting an original screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift of 2009’s Friday the 13th.
The other project is set up at Universal with Ouija screenwriters Juliet Snowden and Stiles White working on the script.
Another project, titled The Bermuda Triangle, was acquired by Warner Bros. in 2013, for what was planned as the first installment in an action franchise series. It is not clear whether that movie will continue to move forward. Not surprisingly, movies have previously been made about the mystery, including a 1996 pic starring Naomi Watts.
