EA Sports Provides Behind-the-Scenes Preview of NHL 12
The chase for the Stanley Cup is still going on, but EA Sports is already looking to the future with their NHL 12 blog. Fans can stay up-to-date on the latest features of a game that’s won 22 “Game of the Year” awards in the sports category. And since 2K Sports recently announced the demise of their hockey series, EA’s NHL series is now the only professional hockey simulation.
In a recent blog post, the folks at EA Sports took a stroll down memory lane, highlighting features that have made their series such a powerhouse. One of the most popular, which made its first appearance in NHL 09, is the “Be a Pro” option under franchise mode. This mode allows you to create yourself and play through a career—getting drafted, being assigned to an AHL team and starting your road to the NHL, where you will hopefully become a superstar.
This September, gamers will see a revamped version of “Be a Pro” and be able, according to ea.com, “to experience the pursuit of greatness and legendary moments in [their] playing career, shatter historic records and cement [themselves] in NHL history.” And just like in real life, the better you play, the more ice time you’ll get.
Fans can also look forward to the first simulation of one of the biggest hockey events of the season, the NHL Winter Classic, to be played this year under the lights at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
Here at STACK, we can’t wait for September 13, when we can lace up our skates and create our NHL legacy. In the meantime, we’ll stick with NHL 11, taking breaks to watch the battle for the Stanley Cup.
