George Kittle Leads ‘Tight End U’ Retreat in Nashville
San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle is hosting a three-day retreat this week for a large contingent of current NFL tight ends in his offseason home of Nashville, Tenn.
The list of notable attendees besides Kittle includes:
- Travis Kelce
- Greg Olsen (retired)
- Darren Waller
- Mark Andrews
- Zach Ertz
- Evan Engram
- Noah Fant
- Austin Hooper
- Kyle Rudolph
- Cole Kmet
- Mike Gesicki
- Jonnu Smith
- Logan Thomas
- Marcedes Lewis
- Tyler Higbee
- Eric Ebron
- Kyle Pitts
- Dallas Goedert
- David Njoku
- Irv Smith Jr
- Hunter Henry
- Robert Tonyan
- T.J. Hockenson
- Dawson Knox
This is not the complete list of everyone who’s at the retreat, but it would’ve been amazing if Rob Gronkowski made it out there too.
Last night, everyone gathered for a meet-and-greet event at Topgolf Nashville. Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs appeared very excited to be in on the festivities:

“I’m always big on building a brotherhood,” Kittle said to Forbes. “A lot of these guys either don’t know each other or never communicated with each other. It bothers me.”
Tight End U takes inspiration from the NFL pass-rusher and offensive linemen summits hosted by Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller and Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson.
Today, the tight ends are working out of the football facilities at Lipscomb Academy to study film, conduct on-field workouts, and share with each other tips of the trade that’s playing the position as a high-level pro.
Here’s Atlanta Falcons tight end Hayden Hurst working on his game:

Former NFL quarterback and ESPN broadcaster Trent Dilfer serves as the head coach of the Lipscomb Academy football program.
Kittle hopes this gathering of contemporaries around the league will transform into an annual event.
Brands like Body Armor, Charmin, Bose, and Nike are either sponsoring the activities or providing merchandise to participants this week. Their willingness to be involved and to cover costs may be a strong indication Tight End U will return in 2022.
And fingers crossed the quarterbacks decide to get together too.
