Gran Turismo Documentary Trailer Released
On Thursday, Sony announced through its official PlayStation blog that a documentary is in the works about the popular driving simulation series, Gran Turismo, and its architect, Kazunori Yamauchi. Entitled KAZ: Pushing the Virtual Divide, the film will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the series and “trace [Yamauchi’s] relentless willingness to challenge himself, to hold none of his past achievements sacred, and to push beyond the virtual divide in his pursuit of perfection.”
The GT series debuted on the original PlayStation in the late 90s. Since then, it has cemented its reputation as one of the prettiest, most popular and most accurate driving games on the market. The new documentary will cover the evolution of the series and of Yamauchi’s vision.
Currently no release date or distribution information has been announced for the documentary, but the trailer looks great. Featuring a dramatic score, beautiful cars and heaps of praise from Yamauchi’s contemporaries, it is sure to increase fans’ appreciation for the series and grow the demand for Gran Turismo 6.
Fans are looking forward to the Dec. 6, 2013 release for GT6, which is already available for pre-order. Gamers who pre-order it will receive extra content, but what they receive depends on where they order the game. If you’re torn between Amazon and Gamestop, check out the official page on pre-order info.
According to Joystiq, GT6 will only be availble on the PlayStation 3, not the upcoming PlayStation 4.
