Greg Kinnear Stars in ‘Same Kind of Different as Me’
Greg Kinnear (Heaven is for Real) will lead an all-star cast in the big screen adaptation of international bestseller Same Kind Of Different As Me. Renee Zellweger (Chicago) and Jon Voight (Ray Donovan) also star in this faith-based film about a remarkable journey that changes the lives of three people struggling to find their way.
The story follows Kinnear’s character, art dealer Ron Hall, as he meets a former-sharecropper-turned-drifter named Denver Moore while volunteering at a homeless shelter. Although the two men are from completely different worlds, Hall reluctantly befriends Moore in an effort to save his troubled relationship with his wife Deborah (Zellweger), who has a calling to serve others.
The film is based on the memoir Same Kind Of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, An International Art Dealer, And The Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together, by Ron Hall, Denver Moore, and Lynn Vincent. Hall participated in writing the screenplay along with Alexander Foard and Michael Carney. All three are making their feature film debut with this project. Carney is also directing the picture. Hall is serving as one of the producers.
Starring as Denver is actor Djimon Hounsou, known for Guardians of the Galaxy and Furious 7. The cast also features Olivia Holt (Ultimate Spider-Man), Ann Mahoney (99 Homes), Stephanie Leigh Schlund (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), and Dana Gourrier (TV’s The Astronaut Wives Club).
Kinnear will be seen soon on the small screen portraying Joe Biden in the TV movie Confirmation, about the controversy surrounding Clarence Thomas’s Supreme Court nomination.
Same Kind of Different as Me will open in theaters nationwide on April 29, 2016.
