Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow is planning another exciting sci-fi project: the big screen thriller Intelligent Life. This DreamWorks production will reunite the filmmaker with Jurassic writer Derek Connolly, who co-wrote the screenplay with Trevorrow. Other Jurassic alumni collaborating on Intelligent Life include Stephen Spielberg and Frank Marshall, who are set to produce the movie with Trevorrow.
The movie is to an extent a reworked version of a previous sci-fi script that was created by Trevorrow and Connolly. Entitled The Ambassador, it involves an employee of the United Nations who is monitoring outer space and is assigned to serve as a representative of humankind in the event of alien contact. The character inadvertently comes into contact—and falls in love—with a beautiful and mysterious woman who may be an alien.
The highly anticipated dinosaur epic sequel Jurassic World, opening in theaters nationwide on June 12, is a major opportunity for Trevorrow to break into the realm of big budget, mainstream films. The success of Intelligent Life may depend on what kind of reception the new installment of the Jurassic franchise gets from moviegoers.
