Jordan Brand's Explosive Melo M8 Launch in NYC
Late last week, Carmelo Anthony and Jordan Brand celebrated the launch of the explosive Melo M8. The event, which took place at night along the Hudson River in NYC, marked the release of Anthony’s first signature shoe as a New York Knick.
Impressive shoe displays, arcade-style basketball shooting games (with one lucky knockout shooter winning a signed pair of M8’s) and performances by famed NYC DJ Enuff and radio personality Angie Martinez were restrained compared to what followed: a man in all white dropping into the river from a helicopter hovering near Pier 54; laser holograms of Melo in explosive mode projected on the surface of the water; and a video display across the entire length of a nearby building. Breathtaking.
After a surprise guest appearance by native Queens rapper Nas, Anthony was joined by fellow Jordan athletes Chris Paul and Maya Moore.
Check out Jordan Brand’s production, and don’t miss the video (below) of Melo blowing up a backboard on the surface of the river. (Want more? Read up on STACK’s exclusive Melo M8 coverage.)
Will Melo’s second season with the Knicks be as explosive as his shoe launch? Let us know what you think on Twitter @STACKMedia.
Melo showed off not only his shoes, but also his threads.
Nas performed "Made You Look" at the launch.
