Jordan Brand Releases the Melo M9
Nike has unveiled its latest Jordan Brand Carmelo Anthony signature shoe, the Jordan Melo M9. Weighing in at 13 ounces, it is the lightest Jordan Melo ever.
(Remember the Melo M7?)
The shoe’s light weight gives it increased responsiveness via Nike Zoom cushioning. It also features a full-length TPU cage that boosts stability and support by embracing the foot. The outward appearance was inspired by Anthony’s love of luxury watches. The design team even added a watch face on the shoe’s heel.
(How about the Melo M8?)
Jordan Brand lead footwear designer Justin Taylor said, “Carmelo has a narrow foot, so the focus of the shoe was on fit, not just for him, but to be supremely adaptive to a wide variety of players. Looking at a superhero suit, it’s got layers of articulation, but it’s not bulky. That was the philosophical ideal for the shoe.”
In a statement, Anthony praised the shoe’s construction, confirming that the extra protection does not inhibit his ability to move on the court. “I love the idea of being locked in, whether I’m on the perimeter or making a move on the post,” said the Knicks star. “I want to protect my ankles while not restricting my cutting ability. After working closely with the Jordan Brand team during development stages, the Jordan Melo M9 fits my game perfectly.”

The Jordan Melo M9 was released on Jan 9. It can be purchased at shoe retailers for $140. It is currently available in four colorways: Game Royal/Black/Team Orange/White, Black/White/University Blue, Black/White/Bright Citrus and Gym Red/Black/White.
