Jordan Melo M6
Performance meets style with the elegant Jordan Melo M6, the sixth edition of Carmelo’s signature line.
The M6 is Melo’s lightest shoe yet, thanks in part to an innovativeconcept known as monocoque design, a technique borrowed fromhigh-performance automobiles to construct the body of the shoe as asingle unit. The result: the most lightweight and responsive Melo shoeon the street.
“A lot of people don’t realize how light 14.2 ounces is,” Carmelosays. “The next lightest shoe was my first, the Melo 1.5, and the M6 isway lighter than that.”
Increased responsiveness comes from the Zoom Air unit at theforefoot and the dual-padded internal fit system, adding extra lockdownand comfort.
Keeping things lighter—and cooler—is mesh paneling along thequarter, which acts as a venting panel for enhanced breathability. Itsclean and polished look is reflected on the shoe’s shimmering overlay, which connects the Jumpman and Melo signature logos.
On the M6’s outsole, you’ll find the characters AU 79/08, areference to the atomic number for gold—a tribute to Team USA’s goldmedal in basketball at the Beijing Olympics. As Carmelo says, “You playaccording to what’s on your feet. If you’ve got ugly shoes, then you’regonna play ugly.”
Versatility was another characteristic Melo wanted for the M6. “Iwanted a lifestyle shoe kids could wear to school and then be able topractice in after school,” Carmelo says.
Available in October for $120, the M6 will come in a gang of team colors.Take it from the man himself: “You will be cool if you wear my shoe.”
