Kevin Durant Reveals the First Time He Envisioned Himself Playing for the Warriors
Kevin Durant plays for the Golden State Warriors now.
If that’s news to you, congrats on finally escaping from the rock you’ve been under for the past three months.
In a recent interview with The Mercury News, Durant revealed the moment he first believed the Warriors might be the team for him:

It’s an interesting insight behind one of the most shocking free agent moves in NBA history. Durant basically saw how well his game could complement the existing Warriors lineup and began salivating at the idea of playing with them. It’s also interesting to know that Durant likely wouldn’t have joined the Warriors if they had won the 2016 NBA Finals.

Of course, Durant would go on to meet with the Warriors shortly after the conclusion of the Finals and ultimately end up signing with the team that holds the single-season NBA record for wins. In the same article, Durant also elaborated on why the Warriors felt like such a good fit beyond their obvious talent:
“You hear family a lot. That’s just a word sometimes, but this is really a lifestyle here. You can feel it when you walk in the door, in the practice facility, everybody is just together. That’s something that I can appreciate as a basketball player and someone who values relationships. You can tell that that’s what they stand on, that’s what we stand on. I feel really grateful to play for a team like that and play with a bunch of players who are selfless and enjoy the game in its purest form. They make it about the players, they make it about the environment, so it was really an easy choice.”
With the official start of the NBA regular season drawing near, it’s almost time to see how well this juggernaut team meshes on the court.
