LOOK: Texas Rangers Fan Creates T-Shirt Depicting Rangers-Blue Jays Brawl
The brawl between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays was the MLB story of the weekend. It was such a big deal in Texas that a Rangers fan created a T-shirt depicting the right hook Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor landed on Blue Jays outfielder José Bautista.
In case you missed it, here’s what set up the bench-clearing fight: Bautista, who had reached base after being hit by a pitch from Rangers pitcher Matt Bush, slid hard into second base trying to break up a double play, almost taking out Odor’s legs. Odor took offense and things escalated quickly. The tension was undoubtedly heightened by Bautista’s infamous bat flip following a three-run home run against Texas during last season’s American League Division Series.
[youtube video=”mxaD4S1HjcU”/]Paul Ylda, the Rangers fan capitalizing on this rare opportunity, created the shirts. He said on Twitter that for every shirt sold through May 17, he will donate $1 to charity.
The shirts come in black, gray and blue. The black shirt displays an image of Odor hitting Bautista on the front and #neverforget on the back. The white shirt displays the same image but with the phrase “Don’t mess with Rougie,” across the front. The blue shirt also displays the same image but with a “Make Baseball Fun Again” caption across the front, referring to a campaign led by Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper whose goal is to allow baseball players to show more emotion during games.
