After years of moving the Mayfield (Ohio) High School weight room from storage areas to empty garages to lesser-used hallways, the Wildcats have finally found a true training home. Their impressive new facility features six two-sided power racks, which allow their sports teams to work out together rather than split up.
The weight room, which opened this November, was made possible in large part through a partnership with Innovative Fitness, which provided turn-key services, including design, equipment fit-out and installation—part of a multi-million dollar renovation of the school’s athletic facilities funded by the school community, especially its athletic program boosters.
Thanks to the partnership with Innovative Fitness, the Mayfield Wildcats will be working out in style for years to come.
What the Wildcats Have to Say
Larry Pinto
Head Football Coach
“Our kids always found a way to get it done, but with the new weight room I think we can take it to a whole new level. We worked out of two different weight rooms for quite some time with the fi eld house in between. To have the whole team be here and be unified is going to really help with morale and team cohesiveness.”
Dean Ochi
Head Athletic Trainer & Performance Coach
“One of the first things the athletes noticed were the logos on the benches and equipment. That’s something they can take pride in. That’s the first thing they wanted to take a picture of on their phones. That logo that says ‘Mayfield.’ This is Mayfield’s weight room.”
Alex Brooks
Linebacker
“The new weight room will be very beneficial. All of this stuff is brand new. You don’t have to go somewhere different if you want to Clean, and there are a lot more racks and free weights, so there will be a lot less waiting time. In just one word, I’d say it’s ‘amazing.’ It’s just amazing that it happened to us.”
