Nas Announces Plans to Record New LP
During a recent interview with the Associated Press, Nas revealed that he’s begun recording his twelfth studio album. “Yes. It has started,” responded the New York rapper when asked if he was considering recording more material. “I must tell you. I can’t stop now. I’m in a great zone.”
(As Nas begins, Tyga is wrapping up. His new album, Hotel California, drops in March.)
The rapper has yet to announce a title for the project, or possible collaborations on the album. However, based on the success of his album Life is Good, Nas is sure to deliver. Life Is Good received four Grammy nods this year. The rapper will compete with others in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. He is also up for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song—for “Daughters.” Many predict Nas will win Best Rap Album; however he’s been in this situation before and walked away empty-handed. He’s been nominated for nine other Grammys and has yet to win.

In other news, CNN recently published an article casting Nas as the greatest lyricist of all time. This controversial statement has sparked conversation. While Nas isn’t sure his past catalog warrants the accolade, he hopes to live up to it with his future work. During an interview on Hot 97’s Angie Martinez Show, he said, “I don’t know if I’ve done my best. I think what’s next to come is crazy, because the zone I’m in now is so right. I’m just happy to be in this place to make music. I don’t know what just got into me, but I love it. And, I’m [going to] take advantage of the zone I’m in when I’m recording my next record. I feel like Ali.”
