Rap News Rundown: Nelly, Fetty Wap, Plies, Big Sean
Nelly Arrested for Felony Drug Possession
Authorities in Tennessee pulled over Nelly’s tour bus for not having proper license stickers and discovered weapons and narcotics. According to reports, troopers found crystallized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia (including “approximately 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics”), a small quantity of marijuana and several handguns, including a gold-plated .50 caliber Desert Eagle pistol.
The St. Louis rapper and five others were arrested for felony drug possession, but Nelly has since tried to distance himself from the incident. “Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered,” his attorney Scott Rosenblum told TMZ.
This isn’t the first time the rapper has run into trouble because of drugs and weapons on his tour bus. Back in 2012, he and six others were arrested in Texas after authorities found 10 pounds of marijuana, some heroin and a loaded weapon aboard his bus.
Fetty Wap Reveals Story Behind Missing Eye
Fetty Wap has finally revealed the story behind his missing eye. Theories about what caused damage to the New Jersey rapper’s vision have run rampant on social media ever since his single “Trap Queen” took over the Billboard charts.
“I tell everybody it’s nothing, because it’s really nothing to me,” he claimed during an interview with Shade 45’s DJ Self. “What happened is, when I was little, I had gotten into a little accident and it gave me congenital glaucoma in both of my eyes. The doctor saved one; I was blessed to still have my vision. That’s it. That’s the story.”
Having one eye certainly hasn’t slowed him down. Fetty Wap recently performed his hit song at the MTV Movie Awards alongside Fall Out Boy.
Plies Attacked On Stage At Concert
When Plies invited a fan on stage with him during a concert in Tallahassee, the rapper probably didn’t know he was about to become the victim of an unprovoked attack and an unfortunate series of admittedly hilarious memes. Yet that’s exactly what happened. In a video that has since gone viral, the rapper chastised the fan for getting too close him—even though he invited him on stage. “We can’t be that close now. We too close,” said the rapper, perhaps in jest.
That’s when things got ugly. The fan hugged the rapper tightly and violently threw him into the crowd. Security agents quickly got hold of the fan and escorted him from the building, and Plies somehow managed to continue the concert. The fan has since recorded a video to explain his side of the story. In it, he refers to Plies as one of his favorite artists.
Big Sean Denies Beefing with Justin Bieber
Most men would take issue with another man hugging their girlfriend from behind. But apparently that isn’t enough to make Big Sean feel threatened. At Ariana Grande’s concert in L.A. last week, Justin Bieber took the stage to perform “As Long As You Love Me” with Grande and wrapped himself around her. Many assumed Big Sean would be furious.
Sean was performing in Canada, but he quickly caught wind of the incident and supposedly tweeted, “This kid is about to learn not to touch my girl like that. Beliebe that.” However, the Detroit native told TMZ that the tweet is fake and that he is good friends with Bieber.
