Behind-the-Scenes Video: Miguel Cabrera, Curtis Granderson and C.J. Wilson 2013 New Balance Baseball Training Shoot
New Balance baseball cleats are worn by roughly 220 MLB players, and three of baseball’s biggest names kicked off the 2013 season a little earlier than expected.
Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera, 2011 Silver Slugger Curtis Granderson, and two-time All-Star pitcher C.J. Wilson descended upon the Peak Performance training facility in New York to model the latest New Balance Baseball training shoes and apparel for NB’s Spring 2013 campaign.
For some of the players, the shoot turned out to be more physically demanding than they expected.
“It was really a workout,” Wilson said behind the scenes on the set of the shoot. “In order to get those shots, I think I jumped over that hurdle like 150 times.”
The optimum support provided by the Minimus 20v3, New Balance’s latest innovative lightweight training shoe, is most satisfying for Wilson, who’s dealt with foot problems in the past. He said, “You need to train in a shoe that’s not going to break you down, and it feels great. I feel like the shoes are molded to my feet.”
For Granderson, wearing the latest edition Minimus helps him take his workouts to new levels. He says, “I’m able to do anything and everything I need to, and feel other things working, because I don’t have all that extra support like I do in a normal basketball shoe that’s tied up to my ankles and laced up tight.”
The stable, low-profile platform of the 20v3 promotes efficiency in the gym, yet it’s versatile enough for a run. And at 188 grams (6.5 oz.), it’s even lighter than its predecessor.
