Nike Zoom KD III MLK Jr. Day Colorway
For this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day, many Nike Basketball athletes will wear a special colorway in honor of Dr. King, as well as in recognition of the upcoming Black History Month [February]. On Monday, Jan. 17, Kevin Durant will showcase his Nike Zoom KD III MLK Day colorway [shown above] as he faces off against the Lakers.
Here’s a quick lowdown on the shoe:
The “Historic Black” upper pays homage to the black sneakers worn by African American basketball pioneers in the 1960s. The striking woodcut texture commemorates classic American art, and the regal “Modern Gold” accents on the swoosh, outrigger and KD logo recall the pioneers’ journey to greatness, ultimately conveying respect for one of the most significant figures in U.S. history—Martin Luther King, Jr.
The release date for Nike’s Zoom KD III MLK Day colorway has not yet been set, but the company is releasing Black History Month colorways for many of its sneakers, most notably the Nike Air Force 1. Go to Nike.com for details.
