adidas Basketball and Derrick Rose have released the first episode of their much-anticipated video series, “The Return of Derrick Rose,” which documents the All-Star point guard’s return to the hardwood. Entitled “BELIEF,” the episode takes us back to the day Rose left the hospital with a torn ACL, revealing the emotions he had to deal with.
“When I tore my ACL, I didn’t think that it was nothing big, so the whole time I’m in the MRI machine, I’m just praying and crying and stuff, hoping that it wasn’t torn,” says Rose. “Think of your most down day, and times that by a hundred. There ain’t enough to describe how I felt at that time.”
Such a serious injury was something new to Rose. But at the end of the video, he shows his determination and belief with the words, “I want to be great.
